John Jackson, president of the St. Louis grain and elevator company, a wealthy citizen, died by hanging Friday night at his grain elevator office. Letters to family were found. contents unknown. The death caused intense excitement with speculation of a forthcoming financial sensation.
Saturday sale of the old Franklin Life Insurance Building at Kentucky Ave and Illinois St, Indianapolis, drew $72,000 from buyers Thomas J. Emery of Cincinnati and John J. Emery of New York. John Hoge of Zanesville sold the property after purchasing it a year ago for $60,600. The purchasers, hotel men, are said to plan a six story building on the site, possibly an elegant new hotel.
The suit by Chapin C. Foster against the governor, auditor and treasurer seeks to stop selling 1 406 000 dollars of bonds authorized by the legislature.
