President Taft sent a cable to Signor Caretti mayor of Porto Maurizio praising the reception given ex President Roosevelt. He said Americans are grateful for the cordial reception accorded to Roosevelt and all Italians from sovereign to subject. The mayor forwarded Taft's reply to Roosevelt.

In Greencastle Indiana on April 11 Mrs Delia Poland armed with a rifle held Sheriff Stroube and his posse at bay at Gibson Crossing. Deputy Mike Kelley confronted her and, after urging Poland to surrender, fired twice wounding nothing as Poland and John Poland fled with a mule and wagon.
In Saginaw Michigan on April 11 twenty five people were injured in a rear end collision of two interurban cars on the Flint and Saginaw line near Bridgeport. Passengers were thrown into a panic heap with several women trampled. A man named Heller of Saginaw was seriously hurt and Postmaster Simmons Conductor John Ellipass and Miss Beardsley of Bridgeport were among the severely injured. New motormen were said to be in charge of both cars.
A procession of 135 Tabernacle Presbyterian church members, led by a bagpipe and kilts, will head to the missionary banquet at Tomlinson hall after gathering at the Y M C A. Tickets total around 2,200 with churches selling many, and speakers include Gov. Marshall and J Campbell White.
New York April 11 Supreme Court Justice Putnam affirmed the separation decree granting Mrs. W Gould Brokaw a $15 000 yearly alimony. The judge ruled Mrs Brokaw's dower rights in her husband’s estate remain unaffected.

William J. Hunt of Wabash Ind faces a Laporte circuit court jury charged with murdering Joseph Tarnowski of Willow River Minn by throwing him from a Lake Shore train near Otis this county. The state says the train ran 30 miles an hour and the trial will last the week. The defense claims Hunt was not a brakeman on that train.
