In Brockport New York on May 21 Herbert Chapman a Clark Son fruit grower rescued 85 year old Akey from a creek. After bringing him to shore Chapman went for provisions and on returning was struck by Akey who appeared from the roadside. The incident occurred three quarters of a mile from the rescue scene. Akey died later at the county hospital.
The court accepted a bid by Frederick I. Barrows to purchase Premier Motor Corporation as receiver Fletcher Savings and Trust Co moves to finalize the reorganization. A new Premier Motors Inc will build a large plant in northeast Indianapolis to manufacture taxicabs while continuing existing Premier cars.
Washington May 21 Practically the entire Asiatic fleet of the American navy comprising eighteen destroyers a cruiser two gunboats a supply ship and auxiliaries concentrates at Chefu Shantung port near the Yanft stronghold ready to land crew detachments if needed. The move would weaken ships' complements but engineers aboard could defend machinery. A few gun crews would be left behind and the deck screen drawn for landing parties. Chefu lies fifty miles west of Welhatwel English possession and 100 miles south of Port Arthur, serving as a base after assembling at Tsingtao 150 miles south.
Foreign and American troops in China were preparing to rush to Shantung to rescue captives held by bandits in Soochow. Robert Lowrie a 80 year old Monticello retired businessman died in a Richmond hospital after lying in a stupor for at least a day. He was found unconscious Sunday night in a hotel room and rushed to the hospital after arriving with two women and a registered lawyer Morris of Flint Michigan. His pocketbook and automobile were missing and the women have not been seen since Saturday night. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow morning by the coroner.
