Fire at George Weaver & Son lumber yard on Ludlow Avenue caused an estimated 11000 in damage to the yard a double house and several adjacent homes 1729 1731 Ludlow occupied by Frank McMurfer and the Richereck family and others at 1721 1725 1721 1723 1722 1718 and 1714 Ludlow Avenues plus outbuildings. A woman suffered minor burns and a firefighter was overcome by smoke while crews battled the blaze. Fire officials investigated the undetermined cause as wind spread flames to nearby structures and a boiler room fire at Union Steel and Wira caused about 100 in damage. Firefighters aided residents including Mamie Ensoy and Mrs Moody as alarms drew spectators.
