New Putnam County Hospital Opens in Greencastle
Greencastle Ind July 30 The new Putnam County Hospital opened its doors yesterday afternoon with grounds covering three acres and facilities on three floors. The X-ray department and sun parlor on the south side of the second floor were donated by local residents. The hospital, one of the finest in the county, adds operating rooms and up-to-date equipment to accommodate forty three patients at one time.

Garage. Man Held on Liquor Charge
Frank A. Beck, proprietor of Beck's autovary at 43 West Walnut street, was arrested yesterday on a blind tiger charge after police and Federal prohibition officers found a small quantity of gin, colored mule whisky and bonded whisky in his office. Harry Miller, charged with operating a blind tiger, was released on his own recognizance after officers were satisfied that the liquor belonged to him. Beck claimed ownership of the garage. officers say he was released on $1,500 cash bond. Police Lieutenants Stoddard and Cox and Federal Officers Ward and King made the arrests.

Robert Emerton 13 of 415 South Leeds Avenue died after falling from a grav el truck owned by Marion County Construction Company driven by John Dithmer 18 of 2180 North Capitol Avenue The accident occurred in front of Mrs Rose Woodruff 5300 Rockville Road Emerton worked as a water boy for the company He rode on the truck on primed lap of Fred Willis 18 of 2516 North Pennsylvania Street both Willis and Emerton were thrown from the vehicle after a swerve to avoid a hole Police say the rear wheel passed over Emerton His skull was fractured Doctors say he had warned not to ride on trucks and that drivers were told not to haul people on trucks Other incidents include minor injuries from crashes at Washington and Harding streets and a sequence of Ku Klux Klan related arrests and political turmoil involving Mayor Lew Shank and City Controller Joseph L Hogue.
