Motorist Killed by Interurban Car Near Twenty first Street
A 48 year old inspector for the Portland Cement Association, William Henry Weaver of 5412 East Washington street, died instantly when his car was struck by an inbound Union Traction interurban at the Emerson avenue crossing north of Twenty first street. Four others were injured in Indianapolis area crashes. Coroner Paul F. Robinson ruled Weaver’s skull fractured and his chest crushed. Witnesses reported Weaver attempted to stop before the collision as the interurban approached, with speeds described ranging from 30 to 60 mph. Debris littered the interurban right of way, and witnesses noted no obstructions along the road prior to crossing.
