She recalls searching histories, confirming no Indiana flag, and promotes booster hospitality to welcome visitors while planning a modern symbol for the gem of Indiana.
Irvington post 38 of the American Legion and its auxiliary plan a French fete on Thursday Friday and Saturday evenings in Jameson Park. A band concert and a speech headline each night with Friday named Marion County port night and Bantille day Saturday. R T Milburn and Mrs Arthur R Robinson head the event with auxiliary committees listed.
The Cedars of Lebanon will hold their regular monthly meeting in conjunction with an Alleday family picnic at Brookside Park on Friday. Members are asked to bring basket lunches.
The Central Avenue Methodist Episcopal church hosted a quiet 10:30 am wedding for Alma Sittason daughter of Samuel A. Sittaxon Cincinnati and Neal Grider of this city. Rev C W Fifer officiated as close friends attended. After the ceremony the couple departed to Clavellana G where they sail for Europe, then plan to live in Indianapolis.
The Du Art Fraternity marked its third anniversary with a Friday eve banquet at the Hotel. Speeches by Frater Lewis Bray and past master Prather lodge highlighted the program. Glenn Dent and George Conthe, former ram fer at Greenfield, attended along with community leaders.
A charity dance to benefit The Daughters will be held at Riverside palace this Saturday afternoon and evening. Arrangements are by Ruth Hartley, Margaret Mona, and a committee of volunteers with many local women named among the organizers and helpers. The event promises an evening of music and community support.
A benefit card party by the Meadomen Daughters of the American Revolution chapter is set for Thursday afternoon at 424 North Pennsylvania Street. Caroling Scott Harrison is linked to the event with details to be announced.
Mrs. Phythian hosts an informal tea tomorrow afternoon at 2421 Winthrop Avenue for Mrs. Grane Kramer of Los Angeles. About 60 invitations issued, with several table reservations noted by members of the Social Tea Club.
The Indiana League of Women Voters launches a drive to raise turnout to 75 percent. Local leagues start double membership drives, citizenship schools and roundtable discussions to educate voters for the fall and winter months. Mrs Alma Foster Sutins, president, cites Maud Wood Park’s call to mobilize democracy and duty of qualified voters.
