Chicago dispatch says Clyde Timmons, who confessed to a Oregon Short Line train robbery near Salt Lake City last August, may be sent back to Utah for trial. He and cousin Carl Timmons kidnapped Mrs. Callahan and others. Clyde was captured after Earl Timmons was killed by a policeman. He may have also participated in a Baltimore & Ohio train robbery last Tuesday night.
An announcement from the Army and Navy Union says Lt. Katherine Clemmons Gould of Washington and New York will donate 1,600 acres in the Blue Ridge foothills within 150 miles of Washington to fund a national widows and orphans home and vocational training school. An endowment of 3,000,000 dollars will be raised in early 1922 to build and operate the facility for widows and orphans of soldiers sailors and marines from all American services.
Saranac Lake, N. Y., Dec. 24. Dr. Robert Patterson, a leading local physician, was shot and killed in his office late today. Grant R. Johnson, who admitted the shooting, was captured after a struggle and after firing at several other persons.
Frank Francia alias Moore was sentenced to five years in the Frankfort reformatory by Judge Robinson for forgery involving a check for 125 dollars bearing Thomas Tramell’s name. Trammell’s home had been robbed earlier, with blank checks among stolen items. Francia faced a broad criminal history, alleged robberies in Louisville and Indianapolis, and implicated a Indianapolis lawyer in stolen plunder, while his wife aided his escape after a prior marriage.
George Gates aged 54 was arrested by a police posse in New Brunswick New Jersey and charged with the murder of five year old Yessie Kucharaki whose mutilated body was found in a suitcase at the Hotel Albany. He was tracked to a shack in woods near Dayton and found on the floor when officers entered. Gates’s brother was also arrested. Weapons were found in the shack. gate’s reactions described as frightened.
In Chicago, Lucy DeCesare six died from a bullet wound fired by Vincenzo De Grombi during a debt collection attempt for $10 from the father. DeGrombi shot the father after the girl entered, then was restrained by three women until police arrived.
In Des Moines on December 24 Judge James C. Hume of the Supreme Court cited Sol omon to affirm a mother's claim to her children. Charles and Lelakes of Sheldon, Illinois seek the three boys adopted from the Iowa Children's Home and demand the boys' location. The home officials refused disclosure, claiming best interests. The judge ruled the home lacked legal authority to adopt out the children.
Jewell Thomas Connolly a 63 year old banker and farmer from Lockhart Texas was shot dead by his wife who then killed herself. Police said Connolly arrived to spend Christmas with family and was shot as he napped while his wife, reported to be mentally distressed after a prior operation, appeared to have fired the fatal shot.
San Francisco bakers will add liquor to Christmas pies under government allowances. More than 2,500 gallons of brandy were withdrawn in three days this week, with bakers each taking the 100 gallon limit except one exception. Federal prohibition director Tom Brown announced the action.
Racine Wisconsin December 24 Frank Hines a Detroit resident sought to justify street begging by quoting scripture. Arraigned before Judge Burgess Hines said The Bible says Ask and ye shall receive and I was only asking. The judge replied And the Bible also says their works ye shall know them and you dont work Ten days.
New York police arrested John J. Hanly after halting his limousine and charging him with possessing and transporting liquor. He had spent hours driving around giving champagne wine and whisky to friends as part of his private stock. The limousine and its contents were seized.
Ramon Chevarria of Alameda, near Albuquerque, received word that his brothers Juan, Felipe, and Fugenso were shot dead by Mexican bandits near Torreon Meralco. The message said the attackers robbed the brothers’ store after the killings and fled.

Louisville residents flee lower areas as the Ohio river swells rapidly. By 6 pm the river topped forty seven feet, after reaching twenty eight feet Friday.
