Mystery surrounds third wound in Parrish case

In Muncie Indiana on August 14 87 year old Irvin Parrish was fatally wounded by three masked highwaymen while with Lavaughn Cunningham 20. Parrish died of internal hemorrhages not caused by a bullet. Investigators doubt highwaymen theory and probe for other motives amid sparse leads.

Ex-Resident of Greenfield Victim of Bandits

Irwin Parrish, fatally wounded by masked highwaymen near Muncie, is an ex resident of Greenfield. He formerly resided in Cleveland and came to Fort Wayne two weeks ago to stay in a hotel with roomers. His parents are dead and he was unmarried, with few details of his private life known to those at the house.

Couple Stages Hold Up in Alexandria

J B McDaniel proprietor of a Park Avenue gasoline station in southeastern Alexandria reports being held up and robbed at gunpoint by a man and woman tonight at about o clock. The incident occurred near the cement road in a southeast city area and continues on page nine.

Indiana White Population 97.9 Percent. Gary Leads Foreign Born

Staff correspondent reports Indiana is 97.9 percent white with 2.8 percent negro. Of the white population 79.5 percent native, 7.7 percent foreign, 6.2 percent mixed. Only 6.1 percent of whites are foreign-born. Gary’s foreign-born total nearly matches Indianapolis. Foreign-born by city list includes Bloomington, East Chicago, Fort Wayne, Hammond, South Bend, Terre Haute, and others with counts.

Steamship Princess Ena Goes Ashore on Canadian Coast

How Is Business in Indianapolis Last Week

Last week retail lines in Indianapolis saw higher transaction counts than the same week in 1920, though dollar turnover was smaller due to lower values. Clothing and dress goods showed activity with strong autumn and winter sales, wash goods rising, and thrift evident. Women’s ready to wear lagged normal levels, home furnishings remained quiet, but shoes hats and men’s wear stayed busy. Industrial activity improved slightly in flour milling and other foods. auto and allied industries stayed below normal. Bank clearings reached 16,552,000 versus 20,889,000 the prior year.

Daylight Yeggs Take $1000 From Marion Store

Marion Ind Aug 13 The Hurst and Co department store was robbed by a daylight bandit between 4 and 6 pm Saturday receipts totaling more than 1000 were taken from the safe after entrance through an alley door. The safe was opened by its combination. Police have no clue.

Gun Battle Kills Disturber Near Rushville Indiana

Herbert Troxell of Knightstown was killed and Archie Stacy of Raysville wounded when Sheriff E M Jones and Deputy Hugh Jones attempted to arrest three intoxicated men along the Knightstown Rushville road. Stacy and Griffin were jailed after the incident.

In Riga on Aug 14 Maxim Litvinoff and Walter Brown continued talks on American famine relief for Russia. Broad Ripple Taxi In Four Car Pileup

Jesse Gemerty a Broad Ripple Indianapolis taxi driver reported four back to back accidents Friday night. His taxi struck a parked car on Fifty second street then the steering failed sending it into a ditch. A northbound driver sideswiped the damaged vehicle and a third car from the opposite direction hit again leaving Gemerty bruised while passengers were hauled to the city. License numbers were not obtained.
