In Boonville Indiana a 10 year old Martha Deffendell was found shot dead in woods near Heilman. Her 22 year old son Dollie Deffendell is named as the killer and faces a murder charge awaiting formal filing. He allegedly killed his mother over demanding furniture for a planned marriage home. A younger brother initially implicated him but later recanted. A shotgun and shell were found at the scene and the body showed death occurred days earlier.
