Attempt to unload souvenir shell proves fatal to veteran
Harry Kinney, 20, a former soldier of 55 Tremont Avenue, died after an accidental explosion while unloading a three inch shell he had brought home as a souvenir. He was in the kitchen when the blast ripped his right hand and side, blew off part of his left shoulder and injured his right leg, dying soon after midnight at City Hospital. Police were told by Kinney’s mother that he planned to unload the shell after returning from the army.
