The chamber adopted Pettit's Monroe Doctrine resolution after amendment by a 71 to 1 vote. General J G Smith of New York was elected President with a vice presidential slate and a Board of Managers. B T Ives of Auburn named Corresponding Secretary and Rev W C Knox of home chosen Chairman of the Executive Committee.
A Philadelphia and Trenton passenger train was struck by a Reading Railroad engine at the junction crossing. The collision damaged tenders and engine parts but no injuries were reported. The New York bound train arrival was delayed due to the accident.
