New York dispatch from Rio de Janeiro reports Paraguay has spent years preparing for war with Brazil. It alleges Paraguay bought steamers and built a munitions foundry in Assuncio, aided by English engineers. The allied force numbers around Ok men, including 42 000 Brazilians 14 000 Argentines and 4 000 from Bona Oriental. General Mike leads the Argentine army. Ozorio commands Brazil. Florez heads the Oriental forces. The Paraguayans’ strength is uncertain but expected to fall soon. A letter notes emigrant troubles in Brazil and warns against Southern state colonization efforts.
Nastvile December 2. Cotton dull with sales low at two cents. Receipts 774 bales, shipped. Amell, a member of the General Assembly, collapsed from hemorrhage of the lungs during a House speech and is in critical condition. Perry, the fourth Heffernan murderer, was convicted by the Court Martial today. Four more await General Thomas's signature for execution.

Lucinda Glazebrook, wife of Hon. Lloyd Glazebrook, died at 58 in San Pierre Stark County Indiana after a three day illness of endocarditis. She was born in Kentucky in 1806, moved across Indiana, and leaves a husband and six children. Her obituary praises her Christian character and forgiving spirit.

The El Paso Mexico correspondent reports Briancourt leaving Chihuahua toward Leurage on October 2, matching the Mexican rumor that Marshal Brazin plans to concentrate forces in the interior. French abandon Sino state. about four hundred invaders at Mazatlan are said to be traitors and headed to Teter. President Yarez plans to arrive in Chihuahua around December 11 or 12.
