Marchand surveyors map state highway route to Marchand
Five surveyors from the state highway department surveyed and graded the proposed state highway from the Jefferson county line to Marchand, stopping at Hicks store. Dayton fair attendees included George Hicks Levi Powell and several others. The story notes community events, serenades, and local visits, along with a penniless widow left by a veteran.
