Murder of Dr Parkman a famed Boston case ends in execution
Dr George Parkman, founder of Massachusetts Medical College, was murdered by Harvard chemistry professor Dr John W Webster. Webster confessed after a dramatic sequence of threats and quarrels over debts. Police found remains despite disposal efforts, leading to a public scaffold execution. The case prompts criminologists to question human emotion and motive. A separate item notes a Bronx Zoo reveal of a 22-foot anaconda skin claimed to be the largest in the New World.
