The Dixon Run Land Company has invested $12,000 in streets and bridges, while Pioneer and Russell Coal firms and Clearfield Bituminous Coal Corporation operate several mines employing hundreds. The Clymer Brick and Tile Company is investing $100,000 to build and equip a plant that will hire about fifty workers. Boy Injured by Explosion at Botsford Mines
John Conrad, 11 year old son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Conrad of Rayne township, was seriously burned in a powder blast at Botsford mines yesterday morning. He left the mine for a keg of powder, wore a miner's lamp which reportedly ignited the powder. The explosion burned his face, neck, hands and arms. Dr C H Bee of Marion Center attended and dressed the injuries. His vision is not believed to be affected.

Cherry Tree Bank Declares 3 Percent Dividend and Increases Surplus
At a Saturday directors meeting of the First National Bank of Cherry Tree a semi annual dividend of three per cent was declared from earnings of the past six months. Five thousand dollars was moved from undivided profits to surplus, raising the surplus to thirty thousand dollars. The fiscal year ends November first when the bank will be four years old. The bank owns a handsome business block and its quarters are equipped with modern conveniences. The rapid growth indicates sound management and a prosperous future.
