Fifty Telephones to Connect County Seat and Farms
Indiana County embraces a new telephone system as the Farmers' Independent Telephone Company moves to open a central office in the Marshall building next week. Under construction lines run underground with extensive metallic wiring plans, linking town businesses and residences to farming communities across northern and eastern parts of the county. Miss Cora McCormick and Miss Balina Neal will staff the exchange as 75 subscribers grow toward 100, while lengthy wiring efforts and building work proceed amid weather delays.
