Smicksburg residents hosted and visited relatives across Indiana and nearby towns. Numerous families including Elkin, Weston, Dixon, Lewis, Stitler, Stitler and others shared Sunday gatherings, shopping trips, and weekend visits with kin in Punxsutawney, Plumville, Dayton, DuBois, Trade City, Home, and surrounding communities. Many attended a State Sunday School Convention in Lancaster.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Ramer and children spent last Friday at Mrs Ramer s home at South Band where Mr Ramer picked apples. Miss Virginia and Marguerite Walhoun bought a Ford runabout and travel to school. A Bible institute was held at Plumcreek church last Saturday evening and Sabbath with Dr Galen Royer and wife of Huntingdon as speakers. Mrs Royer spoke on Barnardo Women of London. Rev and Mrs Holsapple, missionaries from Indiana, attended and Mrs Holsapple spoke in the afternoon and evening.
David Myers, son of Mr and Mrs Clarence Myers, was seriously ill but is nearly recovered. Saturday October 14 marked Mrs Cathryn Clark s 80th birthday, with her active churchgoing. Jacob Miller fell from a wagon while driving his team, the wheel passing over him. he remains bedridden but is recovering. Rev Berry former pastor visited locally. Paul McFarland went on a business trip to Indiana. Rev Holsapple will preach at Plumcreek church next Sabbath. Mrs Jerry Kimmel visited relatives in Indiana last Tuesday.
W W Couch served as a juror that week. Mr and Mrs George Kenley of Graceton visited home from a week with the latters parents here. John and George Smith and Harry Penrose motored to Ford City for an evening. Mrs Charles Miller recovering from surgery in Pittsburgh hospital is expected to return home soon. The Moore property is now occupied by Mr McMangue and family of Kittanning who moved here last week. John Cunningham and wife hear illness of grandsons Owen and Walter Cunningham of Tarentum who have diphtheria.
Smyrna community notes announce communion at Smyrna United Presbyterian Church next Sunday with preparatory services Friday night at 8 and Saturday afternoon at 2. Several locals visit relatives and attend church, revival, and social events. farm work and weather updates appear amid broader town news.
Kiski 31, Penn State freshmen 0 at Kiski. Numerous community visits and social events described. Residents and visitors include Agnes Carson Blairsville, Carolyn Barker Indiana Avenue resident, and Hiden at West Penn Hospital. Presbyterian church social deemed a grand success. Members of the Saltshore Bimh school freshmen plan a Halloween party.
