Mud Mermaids Around Vevay Indiana Describe Amphibious Humans
A riverfront sighting near Vevay Indiana is described as two strange creatures living on a sand bar in the Ohio River. The beings are said to be amphibious, about five feet long, weighing around 150 pounds, with human-like bodies, webbed limbs, yellow skin, and a head resembling a human. Witnesses report carnivorous habits, timidity, and frequent subsistence on aquatic wreckage, with sightings continuing for four years alongside a cord of mussel shells and fish bones. Captain J M Ozler of Covington Kentucky observed and sketched one creature from about 20 feet, confirming the bizarre description and its resemblance to known mermaid legends.
