Community notices report travel to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, visits by residents to Indiana Homer City and Johnstown, church events and dances, typhoid cases improving, new businesses and property moves, and local families hosting relatives with social activities in Gordon and Blageliouz during the week.
Employed by the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Corporation of this place. W. M. Butterbaugh has moved to his property in Lovejoy. Miss Cora Simson of Indiana spent the weekend with her aunt Mrs. Martha Stephens. Wm. Ray, seriously ill, is slowly recovering. J. W. Burkhart added a line of groceries to his business. William Sleppy was guest of R. G. Waits Sunday. Torrance Shaffer started work on his new home on the Jet recently purchased from W. C. Pattison. Mrs. Rey Wolfe spent the weekend in Clymer. Miss Syle Widdowson returned from a two weeks visit with friends. Miss Livelyn Oberlin of Punxsutawney spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Richardson, who spent the past month with relatives at Shelocta, returned home Saturday. Mrs. Harry McMahon was a Marion Center caller Saturday. Mrs. Ord Weaver was a Punxsutawney caller on Friday. Harry Richardson was an Indians business caller on Monday. Ralph Widdowson and William Oberlin, attending school at Indiana, spent Sunday with their parents. Miss Mary Meanor, a nurse from Pittsburgh, here spending three weeks with her father Wise Meanor. Mrs. Annie Brown of Kallysburg spent Sunday with Mrs. H. J. Thompe soi, and A. Kitchen shower held one night last week for Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Vankorn, recently married. The Lyceum course opens with The Fighting Americans at the Presbyterian church Tuesday evening October 21.
