Tattoo Regulation Sets Jersey Cattle Tattoo Rule
The Jersey Cattle Club adopted a by law requiring all animals registered after January 1 1928 to be tattooed. The process uses indelible ink and needle points in the ear or head, and marks must be recorded in the owner's records and registration certificates. The rule aims to uniquely identify each animal and remains a topic of interest with about eleven million Jerseys in the United States, including over three hundred thousand purebreds.
