Murderer Pellagi Hanged After Silent Last Weeks
The Hungarian murderer Louis Pellagi, who killed Justice of the Peace George H. Curfman in Arcadia in July 1912, was hanged at the county jail. Sheriff Jeffries sprung the trap at 10:16 with the body pronounced dead at 10:28. Pellagi refused spiritual counsel, remained mute, and faced death with noted indifference. The execution was witnessed by twelve jurors, and the body sent to Philadelphia for anatomical study.
