Indiana hospital earns A rating for first time

The Indiana hospital reports a historic A rating from the American College of Surgeons for the year ending September 20, 1922. The annual review notes improved facilities, a new nurse housing cottage, a drilled well, and a hot water heater. The hospital treated 1,227 patients, with 586 pay, 491 part pay, and 150 free. Receipts totaled 59,665.56 dollars, while expenditures covered salaries, groceries, medical supplies, and furnishings. The Ladies Auxiliary supported the home with linens, rugs, and a piano, and 20 student nurses are in training. Superintendent Eva M. Allison leads strong cooperation. Farm outputs include 100 bushels potatoes and 176 bushels corn. farm assets and livestock add to the hospital’s resources.

Substantial Contributions at Annual Alliance Convention

The Christian and Missionary Alliance held its annual convention at Tipperary and Nanty Glo. Addresses by Rev Ava of Kongo and Mrs H V Andrews inspired donations totaling 264 dollars at Tipperary 38 at the Hill school and 402 15 at Nanty Glo. The report notes 1 188 missionaries 131 stations 140 churches 12 689 members and 10 569 Sunday scholars with 1 466 baptisms in 1921.

Missionary Society Sew Day in Idaho Parish

Mrs. L. M. Martz entertained the Ladies Missionary Society of the Lutheran church at her home for an all day sewing event. Various local visits are noted with names including John C. Fryer Kerry Townsend and W. P. George. A pie social at Laney school is announced Friday evening with all welcome.

Local residents visit and holiday greetings in valley

Fred Herliner and wife and Mrs 8. M. Rugh and son William of Indiana were callers in the valley on Sunday. Mrs. H Sutton and Mrs Margaret Sutton and brother Thad Wolf were county seat visitors last week. T McCrea and wife and Miss Emma Herlinger were Indiana visitors last week. Taylor Rowland of Johnstown returned home after a hunting trip. Stanley Allen and wife spent Sunday with G. T. McCrea and wife. G. W. George and family visited friends in Dayton.
