Thieves Enter Several Venues Leaving Cash and Goods
Sunday night burglars visited the Hikes Eagles Moose lodge rooms and Elks, stealing about 50 dollars, cigarettes, and tobacco with $38.76 found at the Elks. Moose lodge losses included around 10 dollars and 63 dollars untouched. J M Stewart and Co hardware store was robbed early Tuesday. a small number of bangs and several knives were taken. An attempted break in at Hasinger Brothers failed when officers intervened.

LOCAL HUNTERS SEEK GAME IN MOUNTAINS
Plumville party began this week as H M Zimmerman leads Plumville men to First Fork to establish the annual hunting camp. They will be joined by a list of Indiana county and Jeannette sportsmen for two weeks in Center county hills. The Indiana Bear Club from Huntington county also plans a two week hunt with a sizable camp and a longtime cook. Additional local hunters depart Monday for a separate two week sojourn in the district.

Fatally Injured in Runoff Woman Dies Two Days Later
Mrs. Joseph Frailey of near Shelocta was fatally injured in a Saturday runoff when her horse bolted on the return from Elderton. She fell, fracturing her skull and sustaining additional injuries, and died Monday evening at age 45. She leaves a husband, five sons, and one daughter. A Clarkeburg boy killed by a train near Avonmore was 40 and employed at Tunnelton. A social will be held November 16 at Five Point school for Lutheran endeavor society benefit.

Golden wedding marks half century for Fry couple
The celebration honored Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fry of Washington township on their 50th anniversary at the Fry homestead. About 50 relatives and friends attended a morning greetings and elaborate dinner, followed by a tribute from M. C. Wyncoop of Plumville who presented gifts. Mr. Fry, 72, and Mrs. Fry, 76, were born nearby and blessed with seven children, all but one gathering for the event. The Civil War veteran’s early service and later defense of the country were noted as part of the couple’s long life together. Photographs were taken and guests extended best wishes for continued health and prosperity.

Man of Many Troubles Loses Farm Barn in Fire
Andrew Shank of White Township suffers a major loss when a fire destroys the barn on the William S Pattison farm west of town. A child’s match started the blaze. stock largely saved, but crops and machinery burned. Insurance partially covers the nearly $1000 loss. Shank’s wife is nearly blind and he himself lost an eye in a prior accident.

Young Men Prevented a Tragedy Near Plumville
Nine people were saved from a burning home near Plumville. John and Blair Kirkpatrick of South Mahoning township aided Mrs Welsh and her children, then fell while helping Mr Welsh down. The house and contents were destroyed. Two other fires in the area caused additional damage. Two offenders were sentenced for assault and larceny. Timber sale plans involve W R Hamilton seeking North Carolina timber. A Swamp school social is planned for Friday night in Cherryhill township.

Man Ends Life in County Jail
Joseph Macein aged 37 ended his life in the county jail hospital Sunday afternoon by strangling himself with bandages applied around his neck by a physician. He had previously attempted suicide weeks earlier in Hellwood and left a widow and three children in the old country. He had recently come to this county seeking work and faced persistent worries about his family.
