Washington Township no 1 residents hosted and visited many neighbors this week. Eugene McLean and family from Vandergrift were guests of J A McLean. Florence Park called on Sara Harman. Numerous calls occurred at several homes including the Whitacres near Dayton and the Prugs near Elderton. Church services were held at Atwood with Sunday school and preaching. Punxsutawney Area Residents Visit, Travel, and Illness Notes

Paul Marchand, a Punxsutawney high school student, is home with a sore throat while Lee Mauk of Brookville visited family. Several residents travel to Pittsburgh and Indiana hospitals, and Mothers Day services feature vocal numbers by Rey and Mrs Mohney. Children’s Day is planned for June 8 with various local participants.

Alice McCurdy has returned to Washington township after wintering with Asa McAnulty. June McAnulty will spend time in the McCurdy home. Lois Baker, daughter of the Bakers of Emmons, is seriously ill. Twila Repine, employed in Elizabethtown, N J, visits her parents. Ida McAnulty and son Arthur visit Raymond Lockard at Heilwood. Misses Sarah and Mary Bagley called on friends at Martintown. Rev. and Mrs. Fred McKnight and children visited Scott Douglass house. Mr. Peeler of Indiana called on Elizabeth Keener. Mrs. John Frank and Norman Frank visited the Brown home. Friday Gertha McAnulty and Sarah and Mary Bagley spent Thursday in Indiana. Frank Smith and son Kenneth staying with Samuel Bowser. Mrs. Ellen Byers visited her mother Mrs. Sarah Trout recently. Ted and Eugene Biss were business callers in Barnesboro.
