Mother's Day Sermon on God's Motherhood at Indiana Church
A Presbyterian pastor elevates mothers and motherhood, linking Isaiah and biblical figures to a broad praise of maternal love and the divine in a May sermon. He urges visits to living mothers, letters to distant ones, and prayers for those deceased, then expands to a call for strong marriages and a vast conception of God as the Mothering Spirit. He cites Emerson, Lincoln, Gladstone, and Irving to illustrate maternal influence and argues that divine motherhood exceeds earthly love, inviting readers to envision God’s everlasting arms.
