The Indiana Bent Rung Ladder factory on South street was destroyed by fire starting in the boiler room at five this morning. Firemen were hampered by no water at the start. the plant, except one stock building, burned by 6 30 with $60 000 loss and $27 000 insurance. Thirty five workers face unemployment. the plant will be rebuilt.

Baseball fight ends Normal Grove City game at nine

Pension bill would raise monthly rates and cost $20 million yearly
Representative Langham introduced a bill to raise existing pensions as prices have risen. Pensions up to $12 monthly would grow by one third and up to $15 by one fourth, increasing overall annual costs by about $20 million. The bill allows treasury funds or Aldrich-Vreeland certificates to fund the increases.
