Money Plenty and Prices Fall in Iron Trade

Report from Brew York notes ample money conditions and low rates. Iron and steel prices retreat after sharp earlier gains. Wire nails and barbed wire cut by 20 dollars per ton, with broader declines in iron products. Pig iron weakens, coke at Chicago and southern pigiron softening. Stoppages at Joliet mills signal demand shift while wool markets hold firm only in select grades. Abroad, exports rise though failures increase in U.S. and Canada.

The text then jumps to disjointed lines about royal widows and pensions including the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz receiving 15000 dollars annually and other widows of princes receiving varying sums.
