Farmers Benefit From Prosperity Revival Under Republicans

The revival of prosperity under Republican rule boosted farmers with higher prices for crops and livestock. Agricultural products last year surpassed all Cleveland-Wilson era highs by about 1.5 billion dollars, up 31 percent, with livestock up 35 percent and crops 25 percent. Farm land values rose as mortgage activity declined, and enemies of protection claim a looming surplus. The piece also notes silver growth, smoke issues, and Tennessee political splits, ending with a correction on spelling Porto Rico.
