South Mahoning approves six mills for road improvements
Judge Langham authorized South Mahoning township to levy an additional six mills for road purposes to fund improvements. The dispute over whether to improve Plumville to the West Mahoning line or Plumville to the East Mahoning line ended with both sides agreeing to use bond funds for a single plan. The township supervisors sought the authority and now the tax will fund the chosen road projects, leaving residents content with two improved routes.

Moose Temple Fire Destroys Parts of Building and Stock
A major blaze hit the Moose Temple on North Sixth Street at about 2 a.m. Friday, damaging the first floor and adjoining Grete building. The Swanson restaurant on the Moose Temple’s top floor and nearby apartments suffered heavy losses including stock, fixtures, furniture, and household goods. The fire, believed started in the Swankot Restaurant kitchen, caused extensive damage and required city fire crews to battle the flames through the morning. A social note recalls Stewart Cole’s 87th birthday dinner at his South Seventh home with family and friends. Indiana markets report butter at 38 cents and eggs at 23 cents this week.
