A breezy harbor encounter unfolds as Repeller No 1 attacks the British Scarabeneus with a submerged crab equipped with forceps. The crab grips the Scarabeneus rudder and propeller, tearing away the rudder and shaft, disabling the ship while Repeller No 1 keeps pace. Crab A tows the damaged Scarabeneus toward two approaching warships as alarms rise among harbor townspeople.
The Scarabels fire upon the British ship Crab A as they maneuver near Repeller No. 1. Crab A loses its propeller and steers back while other English vessels form support, tow the disabled ship to port, and prepare further action with a man-of-war in sight. New spies arrive from Betory as tension rises in the harbor.
The County Convention of friends of the Prohibitory Amendment met in Library Hall on Thursday March 14 with strong turnout despite bad roads. Leaders included Rev. Wm B Owens D D as chair and Major Francis Laird as President. The plan of campaign created an executive committee of twelve and a campaign fund of not less than three thousand dollars. The group urged broad enrollment and county league work, with a focus on a June 18 election and a strong turnout.
