The town council was sworn in at its regular meeting with several young members. Key posts changed hands as Henry Hall was re elected president and John Taylor became secretary and solicitor with a $900 salary. New weighmasters were chosen in wards one and four, and Kelter Harr rig remains chief of police with Orrin Stiffler as his assistant. Salaries for public works and borough roles were set, including a street commissioner at $2.50 per day and a borough engineer paid 50 cents per hour with an assistant at 25 cents.

Trackwalker James Brant Killed Near New Florence
A trackwalker named James Brant of New Florence was struck and instantly killed by the Pacific Express just west of New Florence on Friday morning. He had worked for years for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. The deceased was aged 50 and survived by his wife. A widow’s pension of 10 dollars per month was granted to the widow of the late John Goodlin of town, with back pay from February 1904.

Rabid dog bites three Lydie children in Clymer
A dog that bit three sons of Joseph Lydie, a laborer of Clymer, on February 27 was found to have rabies after a head examination at the Pasteur Institute of Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg. The boys were playing with the animal at home when it attacked. The dog was shot and the head sent for testing. Hospital officials notified Dr. N.B. Ehrenfeld of the diagnosis and of the danger to the children. Lydie cannot afford Pasteur treatment. Cherryhill township may assume responsibility.

Pittsburg Gas and Coal Company allied with Iselin interests plans a large coal plant in Young township near West Lebanon on H H Hart farm. Coal will be mined from four openings, a modern plant installed, and a Buffalo Rochester Pittsburg branch line built about 3 miles to Whiskey Run. A sizeable town will grow next to Ernest, ranking among county coal operations.

The Cherrytree postoffice was robbed of 100 dollars in cash and several postage stamps before dawn. Thieves forced entry by breaking the front door lock while lights were out, leaving part of town in darkness. no mail was disturbed. Long life ends for Tadiana couple at old Hood farm
An elderly Tadiana couple, Annie Hood and Thomas C. Hood, celebrated 65 years of marriage with nine children born to them. Annie Hood died after a period of debility on a Monday, at home in White township, aged 82, with funeral services led by Rev. J Day Brownles. Surviving husband is nearly 91. The couple had lived across White and Rayne townships before settling in Tadiana.
