Many County Towns Prepared for Fourth of July
Many county towns plan Independence Day celebrations with parades, athletic events, and picnics. Lucerne hosts a big Fourth with a first aid meet judged by U S Bureau of Mines officials, flag raising, trap shoot, baseball games, greased pole and pig races, music, and a water carnival at the dam. Iselin, Shelocta, Heilwood, and surrounding areas mark festivities with parades, baseball games, first aid demonstrations, balloon ascensions, and bands. A Smyrna church picnic and an Epworth Leagues union picnic are also scheduled in nearby communities.

Several Cases Before Court. Law Offenders Sentenced and Desertion Case Heard
The court disposed of cases involving John and Clark Beer of Sheroda on Monday. John Beer faced charges from Harry Kerr including concealed weapons. grand jury ignored that charge. costs placed on the prosecutor. Juries found John and Clark Beer guilty of assault and battery. John Beer guilty of surety of the peace. John Beer was fined 25 dollars and bound to a 200 dollar bond to keep the peace for two years. Mark Beer was paroled on costs. Peter Bell pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and battery and received 50 dollar fine and 30 days in jail. Algers Weaver of West Mahoning faced desertion and non-support. decision to be rendered July 12. Joseph Maley pleaded guilty to selling liquor without a license. fined 500 dollars, costs, and six months in the Workhouse.

Indiana Captures Encampment Delegate From Philadelphia

Fifty-Fifth Boy Dead From Homer City Soldier
Solin Foust of Homer City died Monday at his home aged 74. A veteran of Co F Fifty-Fifth P V I, he served four years and later lived a quiet retirement in Homer City. Survived by widow and numerous children in several states, funeral services are set for 2:00 PM at Homer City M E church with Rev C A Hartung. burial in Greenwood cemetery.

Two Injured at Heilwood Mine Rock Fall
Gray Barndollar, about 26, in Heilwood No 1 mine, had a compound fracture above the ankle when his foot was caught between a tie and a motor. He was taken to Penn Mary hospital for treatment. George Pollock was injured next day by a rock fall, crushed with three broken ribs, and also sent to Penn Mary hospital for care.

Fire destroys Hillsdale store of Ake brothers
Ake & Brother, a long standing Hillsdale mercantile firm, lost their store and contents in a Friday morning blaze around 10:60. The fire started on the second floor while Boyd Ake was in the wareroom. Damage is estimated at 37000, with partial insurance coverage.

The Wild Life League of Indiana County conducts meetings in county towns to organize new branches and survey streams for restocking. Sad Commencement Marked by Mother's Sudden Death
Ida Rebecca Gallagher of Somerset, Indiana State Normal graduate, faced a somber commencement as her mother Mrs. E. K. Gallagher died Sunday in Jenner. Mrs. Gallagher attended a piano recital Friday night, then died while picking flowers in a Jenner meadow. The Gallaghers are prominent Somerset residents. Ida left on Monday morning for home.
