Lightning Fells Stable and Storm Hits Parkwood
A Sunday evening electrical storm struck a Parkwood stable owned by J R Ray, burning the structure and hay and straw inside. Insurance partly covers the loss. The same storm felled a tree near J R Wiggins’s chicken house in Armstrong Township, killing several fowls, and widespread damage occurred to gardens and grain fields across the county. Three new houses at Clymer by Clearfield Bituminous Coal were damaged by the wind. Two cherry trees on Munshower farm in White Township were split by a lightning strike. World War veteran Walter D Peterman of town announced to run for Register and Recorder on the Republican ticket, noting wartime service and campaigns. A new baseball diamond in Barnesboro will open Thursday for a Barnesboro–Indiana Independents game at 5:20 to accommodate after-work attendees. John T. Davis of Blairsville, state Prohibition Director, may resign amid co operation disputes with federal agents. Subscribers with June 24 dates should renew now to avoid missing issues. Fatal tipple accident near Iselin injures Nick Sanduci. Prof G G Abbot notes sun activity may be lowering heat. Mrs Catherine M Berkey and son were in a business in Commodore.
