Indiana County Surcharge Appeal Filed by Commissioners
The Indiana County Board of Commissioners filed an appeal to the eight thousand one hundred twenty five dollar surcharge noted by county auditors on April 13 1925. The bond lists prominent local business men as sureties and the case proceeds to a hearing to decide if the surcharge should stand. The appeal argues the auditors overcharged for coal survey services and sheriff boarding costs, asserting proper duties require expert valuation and that prior court orders set the daily rate for prisoner maintenance.
