Mutiny Aboard the Norwich Ends in Surrender and Trial
An account of a mutinous voyage on the Norwich bark of about 700 tons between Liverpool and the coast, where cruel treatment by officers spurred a mutiny. After a flight to the Azores near doom, sailors seized control, a longboat fled to safety, and a British warship later pursued and captured the mutineers. The trial in London led to life imprisonment for some and 6 to 15 year sentences for others. The narrator, a boy apprentice, survived to tell the tale.
