Pennsylvania Republicans nominate Stone for governor

The statewide Republican convention at Harrisburg endorsed Colonel William A. Stone of Allegheny County for governor. The process avoided factional warfare under state chairman John P. Elkin, with Senator Quay declining to intervene. Stone, a pro labor, anti foreign pauper labor advocate and veteran, is hailed as a strong, clean candidate supported by labor groups and farmers alike. The ticket is described as exceptionally strong and soldier oriented.
