Thunder and flood damage hit county farmland

Destructive lightning and wind swept across the county on Friday causing widespread damage. Hail destroyed crops in Cherryhill and Green township, with Grant and nearby areas also hit by a mini cyclone. Homes, barns, and telephones suffered, while corn and oat fields were leveled and the Yellow Creek area faced high water delaying furnace operations. Local residents reported heavy losses, including a Penn Run farmer valuing his crop at 3800 before a later drop to 265 as fields lay shredded and utilities repaired.
