Two Fatal Railroad Accidents Near Garfield and Blairsville
Walter Burnheimer 22, brakeman from Tanoma, killed on the Pennsylvania railroad near Garfield while crossing the track after the eastbound train stopped. He died about three hours later in Blairsville. John Woods, 32, flagman from Freedom, struck in Blairsville yards by a moving train while seated on the track. He died within hours. Burnheimer's funeral was held at his parents home. Woods left a wife and child behind.
