Victims of mad dogs alarm Brushvalley area
A rabies outbreak from a roaming mad dog in Brushvalley township caused four cattle including a heifer and a steer to die or be killed after showing signs of rabies. The dog chased locals on bicycles, attacked stock across several farms, and was last seen with a broken leather collar. Dr J H St Clair of the state livestock sanitary board warned neighbors to quarantine animals and hunt the dog, which is described as white with dark and yellow spots. The incident prompted wider concern as similar reports emerged in nearby townships.
