High priced butter takes a big tumble
Meat prices lower and a broad public push to abstain from meat for 30 days spreads nationwide. Elgin Butter Board cuts wholesale butter prices by six cents a pound, triggering the largest one day drop in Pittsburg and likely across the country. Consumers’ shift to low grade butter and reduced demand drive price declines while meat prices wobble as wholesale markets slip and supply overwhelms demand.
