Second Ward Fire Destroys E W Griffiths Store
A late Thursday fire destroyed E W Griffiths grocery and store next to his house on Sixth Street in the Second ward. A lamp left burning in the front room ignited the blaze about 10 pm, trapping the interior in flames. Operation Removes 37 Pints Of Fluid In Dropsy Case

Quick Death For Howard Beans In Saltsburg Train Accident
Howard Beans a radiator works employee at Salisbury was killed about 1 am Tuesday when the West Penn train struck him at the east end of the tunnel near Salina. The body was mangled with the head crushed and a left foot severed. He was reportedly seen in Avonmore the day before, heavily under the influence. Train crews found evidence on the engine at Saltsburg.

Thomas Gailey, an inmate at Dixmont Insane Asylum, died Saturday at age 43. A former Armstrong township resident and son of George C. Gailey near Willet, he suffered brain injury over 20 years ago that left him unbalanced. His condition worsened recently, leading to his removal to the asylum. He was unmarried. His body was brought home to his parents Monday for funeral services today, with interment at Willet.
