Elderton D. L. Solinger and community activities noted

Vandergrift resident Elderton D L Solinger faltered on friends Tuesday evening. Mrs John Snyder hosted the G T Club at a noon dinner last Wednesday. Cooking class led by Miss Bessie Owens met at Mrs Carl Williams home Wednesday afternoon. D I Club hosted a Valentine party at Miss Erma Rosborough home last Thursday evening. Rev S Papajon and Tyrus Linsingler attended Indiana M C A game Friday. Graded School children presented a patriotic program to parents and friends last Friday. Picnic lunch served. Mrs Glenn Shaffer and Mrs Clair Reefer visited Punxsutawney friends Friday and Saturday. Plumville high school beat Elderton girls 22 21. Elderton boys lost 55 22 to Plumville. Edwin Clark Indiana refereed. Mr and Mrs Glenn Cribbs Warren Ohio spent weekend here. their daughter Sarah Eleanor and Gale visited before returning home. Ed Clark family Tarentum visited over weekend. Elderton high senior class held a bake sale Saturday. Lizzie B Miller Pittsburgh and Mr and Mrs Clark Femley Apollo visited friends Monday. L G Clark Indiana attended Saturday night basketball. An old time musical will be at the high school Thursday evening to raise funds for the school piano find.

Mrs Alex Cunningham McIntyre visits daughter Mrs J W Philips of Clearfield for a couple weeks. Mrs W W Stiffier of Pittsburgh visits her parents Mr and Mrs J R Learn last week. Mrs Roland Peters and Barbara Lee of Reading spend time with her parents Mr and Mrs W L Henry. Mr and Mrs J G Learn and son Jimmy of Vandergrift return home after weeks at the former’s home here. W L Henry attends funeral of Mrs Robt Knox Wednesday. H H Blakeley and Lowry Lewis visit McIntyre Friday and Saturday. Mrs W L Henry and daughter Mrs Peters and granddaughter Barbara Lee call on Mrs Anna Smith of McIntyre Tuesday.

A baby boy arrives for the Murray Boyer family, and other residents are noted visiting, ill, or recovering. A Pine Flats church play is announced for February 23, inviting all.

Blacklick Township reports J B Anthony family attending a funeral in Punxsutawney on Monday. Joe Gibson and Homer Bruner killed a gray fox near Hunter’s school on Tuesday. Mr and Mrs B J Johnston were Indiana callers on Wednesday. J M Lydie and family attended the funeral of Mr Lydic in Smyrna on Wednesday. Lloyd Taylor was an Indiana caller on Thursday. Frank Lydic of Erie spent Friday at the home of Mr and Mrs Ira Cochran.
