Poorhouse Debate Opens County Court Session
The Indiana county grand jury week ends with a long list of small cases. A key presentment urges forming a county poorhouse and a vote at the February election. Judge White explains the process and urges petitions from township overseers for a public vote if requested by a majority. The court also notes bridge projects and county finances while starting criminal trials.

Two Wills Fired Which Differ Materially in Distribution
Two wills filed with the Blairsville and White township executors show stark differences in property division. George S Richardson’s 33 word will to his wife Kate leaves only life insurance and a Blairsville house, dated April 7 1894. Christopher Boreland’s 1891 will carves up farm land to his wife daughter and son with specific allocations and an executor appointment, later modified by codicil. The Boreland will directs debts and funeral costs be paid first, and sets up farm homes for his wife and mother while dividing the farm into northern and southern ends for his daughters and sons. Water supply issues prompt a plan to pipe Twolick Creek water in spring, with filtration, as patrons demand safer, higher quality water and the company weighs surrender of its franchise.
