Intriguing Kidnapping Plot from a Past Case

A detailed account describes a plan to abduct Miss Lucy Schenck, orchestrated by a group including Shepard and a lover named Hastings. The plot used an automobile to breach her house, controlled by threats of force, a staged break in, and a staged search for plunder. The scheme unraveled as lawmen and insiders resisted and the conspirators fled, with Miss Schenck later recovered and the conspirators pursued.
