Elkin block fire guts barber shop and lodge hall
An early morning blaze nearly destroyed the Elkin block on Philadelphia Street. Burt Roofs barber shop on the first floor burned, threatening nearby frames. brave firemen confined the flames despite a lack of water and a stubborn attic fire. The building, heavily damaged, housed Langhans & Jukin law offices and M. Sharrotta shoe store. the Hills social lodge and other quarters suffered heavy losses.
