Weather woes and civic warning echo 1854 fears
The article contrasts 1854 droughts, cholera, and hard times with today. It notes Pittsburg and Allegheny churches calling for fasting and rain, then cholera outbreaks. It recalls crop losses, cattle suffering, and economic depression, while praising wheat and corn prices from 1854 and urging awareness of water safety and public health. It also reports a Supreme Court ruling on school funds, thoughts on trust, Labor Day status, and voter registration reminders.
