Munich Street Lamps Lighting Method Described

A New York Sun report details Munich street lamp lighting from the exterior without opening the lantern. It uses a kindling pipe with small holes to project flames from outside to the burner, enabling lighting in storms and reducing shadow casting while conserving flashlight gas. The system includes a main pipe with a stopcock and a wind-stable lamplighter pole. A brief literary exchange follows about life’s uncertainty and a quip on making it sooner.
