Fatal Slate Fall Claims Young Miner at Graceton
Barno Mecolo a 20 year old first day miner at Graceton was killed by a slate fall last Friday. His back was broken and he was mangled in multiple places before fellow workers freed him. The body was brought to Indiana on Saturday and buried in the Catholic cemetery.

Local team defeats Vandergrift 8 to 3 on road trip
Under manager Arthur Wilson the town baseball team traveled to Vandergrift last Saturday and won 8 to 3. The return game is set for Saturday August 16 here. Deer accident on farm injures Homer City youth
While helping harvest on Hugh English's Homer City farm on Monday evening, a tara deer fell on Robert Mc Connaughey son of Wilker McConnaughey. The left ankle was fractured but not broken. Dr. J A Weamer and E H Dickie were summoned to set the bone and care for the youth. He is about 18 years old.

Samuel Henderson of near Curry Run church died last Friday after a long illness at 82. He was born at Elders Ridge and lived with daughter Nan Fleming. Survivors include daughters Mrs. Nan Fleming, Mrs. Lizzie Wiggins, Mrs. Julia Cunningham, and sons Ralston and Harry Henderson, with funeral by Rev. Wilean at Curry Run church. Philip Lang died at his home near Kenwood at 67 from a skull fracture after a horse kick. A Civil War veteran, he left a wife and one son Philip, with services at Pine Flats Christian church conducted by Rev. Allen Stickley. Interment in Williams graveyard.

Beebe Beck Recalled From Morganza Reform School
About three years ago Beebe Beck of town was released on parole from Morganza reformatory. Since then he has been located around town with authorities watching him. Recently his conduct worsened, Morganza officials were notified, and on Tuesday they sent a man to take Beck back to the reformatory. He is said to be 21, and his term will not be lengthy.
