Horses Wandered Home After Lightning Spooked Team
Hon S M Jack and wife visited Cockport and stayed with Dr H J McCullough over Sunday. Saturday evening, Jack’s hitch of horses were frightened by lightning and bolted, escaping the buggy and returning to Indiana. The rig belonged to liveryman J M Cunningham. David Alanenadm Short a longtime resident died at his home after prolonged illness. He was born in Koonsville Penn in 1838 and moved to this county ten years ago. He served in the Civil War and was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife and several children. Funeral held at his home and Greenwood cemetery interment. Mrs Johnston of Pitcairn died Friday at Pitcairn after dropsy at age 58. She was married in 1902 and survived by husband and two sons, several siblings, and other relatives. Funeral in Pitcairn and then at Oakland cemetery. Remains accompanied by Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers members.
